OSSSC Nursing Officer Exam Date 2026 Out: Check September 22-23 Exam Schedule Tips

OSSSC Nursing Officer Exam Date 2026: The Odisha Sub-Ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) has announced the written examination schedule for the Nursing Officer-2026 recruitment. According to the latest official notification, Notification No. IIE-54/2026-2586/OSSSC dated 21 August 2026, the Nursing Officer written examination will be conducted in Computer-Based Recruitment Examination (CBRE) mode on September 22 and September 23, 2026.

OSSSC Nursing Officer Exam Date 2026 important exam dates

The recruitment drive is for 5,989 District Cadre Nursing Officer posts. With the application process now closed, candidates should shift their entire focus from registration-related activities to final examination preparation.

This article explains the OSSSC Nursing Officer Exam Date 2026, shift-wise schedule, examination mode, expected paper structure, important dates, preparation strategy, admission-letter instructions and the most important things candidates should do before entering the examination centre.

Official source: Candidates should regularly check the Official OSSSC website for the latest admission letter, examination instructions, notices and other updates.

OSSSC Nursing Officer Exam Date 2026: Latest Update

The biggest update for Nursing Officer aspirants is that the written examination date has now been announced. OSSSC has scheduled the examination over two days: September 22 and September 23, 2026.

The examination will be conducted in CBRE mode, meaning candidates will answer the questions on a computer at their allotted examination centre. The Commission has divided the examination into five shifts across the two days.

Remember one important point: the overall examination schedule does not necessarily mean that every candidate will appear on the same date or in the same shift. Your individual admission letter will contain your allotted examination date, shift, centre, venue and other instructions.

OSSSC Nursing Officer 2026 Exam Schedule

Date Shift Examination Time
22 September 2026 Shift 1 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM
22 September 2026 Shift 2 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM
22 September 2026 Shift 3 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM
23 September 2026 Shift 1 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM
23 September 2026 Shift 2 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM

Important: Candidates should follow the date and timing printed on their individual admission letter rather than relying only on general social-media posts or unofficial schedules.

What Is CBRE Mode in OSSSC Nursing Officer Exam 2026?

CBRE stands for Computer-Based Recruitment Examination. Unlike a traditional OMR examination, candidates will read questions and submit their answers through a computer-based examination interface.

If you have mainly practised using printed books, do not ignore the computer aspect of the examination. Your nursing knowledge may be excellent, but examination performance also depends on speed, accuracy and familiarity with the digital interface.

Why Should Candidates Practise Online Mock Tests?

Online mock tests can help you become comfortable with navigating questions, moving between questions, managing the clock and avoiding careless clicks. Think of it like a clinical skill: reading about a procedure is useful, but repeated practice makes execution smoother.

Best CBRE Practice Method

  • Attempt full-length online nursing mock tests.
  • Practise answering questions within the actual time limit.
  • Review incorrect answers after every mock test.
  • Maintain a notebook of repeated mistakes.
  • Practise both nursing theory and practical-skill questions.

OSSSC Nursing Officer Exam Pattern 2026

Candidates should prepare primarily around the notified Nursing Officer syllabus and examination scheme. The earlier OSSSC Nursing Officer examination framework has given substantial weight to professional nursing subjects and practical skills, along with basic Arithmetic and English.

Subject/Area Questions Marks
GNM / B.Sc. Nursing Subjects 60 60
Practical Nursing Skills 25 25
Arithmetic – HSC Standard 10 10
English – HSC Standard 5 5
Total 100 100

Note: Candidates should always give priority to the latest official OSSSC recruitment advertisement and examination notice if any provision is revised. The examination mode for Nursing Officer-2026 has specifically been updated to CBRE.

Important Topics to Revise for OSSSC Nursing Officer 2026

With the examination approaching, this is not the time to read every nursing textbook from cover to cover. Your goal should be targeted revision and high-frequency question practice.

1. Medical-Surgical Nursing

Revise common medical and surgical conditions, signs and symptoms, nursing management, emergency care, drug-related precautions, fluid and electrolyte balance and perioperative nursing.

2. Community Health Nursing

Focus on national health programmes, primary health care, epidemiology, immunisation, maternal and child health, health education, sanitation and community-level nursing responsibilities.

3. Child Health Nursing

Revise growth and development, common childhood illnesses, immunisation, newborn care, paediatric emergencies and essential nursing interventions.

4. Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing

Give special attention to antenatal care, stages of labour, complications of pregnancy, postpartum care, newborn management and obstetric emergencies.

5. Mental Health Nursing

Review psychiatric disorders, therapeutic communication, mental-status examination, psychiatric medications, crisis management and nursing interventions.

6. Nursing Foundations and Practical Skills

Do not underestimate practical-skill questions. Revise vital signs, infection control, medication administration, catheterisation, oxygen therapy, wound care, IV therapy, CPR, patient positioning and basic emergency procedures.

OSSSC Nursing Officer 2026 Preparation Strategy

If you have approximately a few weeks remaining, your preparation should become increasingly exam-oriented. At this stage, learning without testing is like running a marathon without checking your pace.

Step 1: Complete a Rapid Syllabus Audit

Divide your syllabus into three categories: strong, moderate and weak. Do not spend the majority of your remaining time revising topics you already know perfectly.

Step 2: Focus on High-Yield Nursing Concepts

Revise frequently tested concepts, clinical procedures, definitions, normal values, emergency interventions, pharmacology basics and disease-specific nursing care.

Step 3: Solve MCQs Every Day

Set a daily target for MCQs. More importantly, analyse every wrong answer. A wrong answer is not wasted effort if you understand why it was wrong.

Step 4: Take Full-Length Mock Tests

Start with shorter practice sessions and progress to complete timed tests. Try to simulate the CBRE environment as closely as possible.

Step 5: Revise Instead of Starting New Books

New resources can create unnecessary confusion close to the examination. Consolidate your existing notes, previous questions and mock-test mistakes.

Admission Letter To be released online

OSSSC Nursing Officer Admission Letter 2026

The admission letter will be one of the most important documents for candidates appearing in the examination. Candidates should download it from the official OSSSC portal as soon as it becomes available.

The admission letter is expected to provide candidate-specific information such as the examination date, shift, venue, centre and reporting instructions. Do not assume your shift merely from the general five-shift schedule.

What Should You Check on the Admission Letter?

  • Candidate name and registration details.
  • Examination date.
  • Shift and reporting time.
  • Examination centre and complete address.
  • Photograph and other candidate details.
  • Instructions regarding permitted items.
  • Identity proof requirements.

Last-Minute Preparation Tips for Nursing Officer Aspirants

  • Revise daily: Keep your revision active rather than studying randomly.
  • Practise clinical questions: Nursing Officer examinations reward applied knowledge, not memorisation alone.
  • Improve speed: Timed MCQ practice is essential for a competitive examination.
  • Analyse mistakes: Maintain an error notebook and revise it regularly.
  • Do not ignore Arithmetic and English: Small sections can still contribute valuable marks.
  • Sleep properly: A tired brain makes avoidable mistakes.
  • Follow official updates: Never rely exclusively on Telegram, WhatsApp or social-media forwards.

Follow OSSSC Nursing Job Updates and Exam Preparation Resources

Candidates preparing for government nursing examinations can also explore our regularly updated OSSSC Nursing Officer Jobs and Nursing Exam Updates for recruitment notifications, nursing practice questions, salary information, preparation resources and other staff nurse opportunities.

For official notifications, examination notices and admission-letter updates, always cross-check information on the official OSSSC website.

Why the Final Weeks Matter

The final weeks before an examination can make a major difference. You do not necessarily need to study for 12 or 14 hours every day. What matters is whether those hours are producing measurable improvement.

Use a simple cycle: Revise → Practise → Analyse → Correct → Repeat. If your mock-test score is improving and your number of repeated mistakes is falling, your strategy is working.

Think of preparation as sharpening a clinical instrument. The basic knowledge is already there from your GNM or B.Sc. Nursing studies. Your job now is to make retrieval faster, decision-making sharper and examination technique more reliable.

Conclusion

The OSSSC Nursing Officer Exam Date 2026 is now scheduled for September 22 and 23, 2026, with the written test being conducted in CBRE mode across five shifts. The recruitment covers 5,989 Nursing Officer vacancies, making this an important opportunity for eligible nursing candidates in Odisha.

With the application stage completed, candidates should now concentrate on nursing subject revision, practical skills, MCQ practice, mock tests and computer-based examination familiarity. Most importantly, download and verify your individual admission letter when OSSSC releases it, because your personal examination date, shift and centre will be specified there.

Do not wait for the last week to become serious. The best time to turn the announced exam date into a study deadline is today.
